Amore Emergency
April 12-18, 2021
Info
The exhibition space Amore was founded in March 2021 in Basel, Switzerland, by the three artists Marilola Peter Wili, Osama Alrayyan, and Samuel Grand and is organized as a tax-exempt non-profit association. Amore serves as a platform for contemporary art and is intended as a forum for discourse on art and socio-political issues. Exhibitions and events are organized in regular intervals and once a week, every Friday, Amore opens the speakeasy Jour Fixe.
The curatorial approach aims to provide a platform for positions that are underrepresented due to complex contexts and forms of discrimination. The selection of positions is further based on the urgency in an artistic career for a public presentation opportunity, and the mutual interest in collaboration. The artists are invited to work experimentally and independently of institutional and market-oriented guidelines. The team focuses on active collaboration with the artists and relies on their expertise in their own practice. Particular focus is put on solo exhibitions in order to add a further presentation option to the existing formats - group exhibitions, exhibitions within established institutions and exhibitions in galleries - in which the focus is on the artist and their artistic practice.
Amore follows an approach of maximum flexibility to achieve its aims and prioritizes the well-being of those involved in the projects. The association remains adaptable to changing circumstances and individual needs to ensure optimal conditions for the realization of its program.
